The out of the box factory color on that door would have been most likely gray. Would the mill waste the time and money to repaint it? As I remember the ventilators were galvanized sheet metal, but it's been a long time since I've seen one up close. Even though this is a Plain Jane generic building you're one step closer to being finished. Gluing all those ribs on really made it perfect. Definitely worth the effort Craig.

I was thinking the fans to be silver/aluminum type color and maybe a white or gray door. Good to know I was thinking along the same line.Follow along on Facebook as well.

I've always known about the spur at Ste Michelle vinters (trailing point) on the spur but I haven't ever really thought about as a modeled spur as I never heard of any caes being spotted there during my time frame. But it's been bugging me lately looking at the spur I built for 90th St (Douglas Palmer, facing point). I initially thought I would want to have a big space for the industry buildings so last summer I expanded on the area and made it bigger. But it's too far in to really reach and uncouple cars. And the spur is a trailing point.
I'm slowly thinking that maybe the best option is to keep it but cut it back as the Ste. Michelle spur and then build the Douglas Palmer spur as a correct facing point a little further down the track, right next to the fence. Sure I won't have the space for the buildings, but I could at least get a parking lot area. And it would be a lot easier to reach in and switch.
I have a extra turnout on hand waiting for more ties.
Operational wise it makes more sense to swap the two areas as it forces a final move on the way back to Woodinville (staging) vs at the beginning.

I have lights! Discovered that 2 CL2N3 LED drivers give just the right amount of light with two 0603 SMD in each light fixture gives just the right amount of light. Now I need to install the lights on the silo I finished a while back now that I know what works.
Test with a 9v battery in the bathroom. Maybe tonight when it gets dark I'll place it on the layout and see what it looks like.
It's only taken 2 months to get a 1 month project 99% done. The last thing is to glue the vents on and do a final UV clear coat.

Done and on the layout.
For a 30 day, zero dollar build, I meet exactly 1 of those requirements. About 60 days from start to finish but that's still pretty impressive to me. Now with the week of warm weather coming up, I'm pretty sure I'll be hacking away at the layout until false spring gives way to the big dark aka rainy season 2.0.
Now that I have working lights, I'm trying to quickly add the other lights on the silos I've built already. One of these trips down to a hardware store might just result in some wire being added to my cart. Funny I avoid track power just to run a special line for building lights.
A few night time pictures.

Thanks. I really want to get all these buildings set and "semi permanent" but I'm waiting on the main feed mill structure. Because it's the biggest chunk of land but also everything builds off it relatively close. So for now they just kinda sit here weathering and 8 enjoy looking out the kitchen window at all the stuff. I'm not sure my wife likes the view as much as me. 😂

Playing around with the OPS Buddy google sheets file and customizing it for my layout. I might do a few mock switchlists to see how it randomly generates switchlists. I'm trying to strike a balance between a full on computer driven program like JMRI and a "hey lets pick what I want to run today" driven switch list. I like the idea of randomization but also predictability.
Darigold & T-D Feeds will be the go too industries to switch each ops session, but how many cars should each industry get (and with T-D Feeds, what commodity type?)
For a small layout JMRI seems like overkill, and 2 or 4 cycle car cards seem like they just repeat the same number of moves over and over.
