Adding Stack Exhaust to a Photo

I've only been on RMR for five minutes this morning, and already I have steam exhaust envy. The banner photo of Bob's Crawford and Cherokee looks absolutely outstanding, and the "piece d resistance" (now if I could only remember the ASCII codes to put in the correct superscript) is the stack exhaust.

I've struggled to find good steam exhaust pics that would work good for adding to a photo. Do you folks have a library that you accumulated over the years? How much retouching do you have to do in order to integrate it into a scene? Was the exhaust altered with airbrushing in your graphics program?

I'd love to see a tutorial on how others are doing it.

Good Morning Jerry,

That photo was edited by Jim Six to add the exhaust. You might reach out to him with the question. He did this for a handful of my photos and used them for an article and MRH used for an advertisement.
