    D&RGW narrow gauge 1960s

Photos in color and B&W from the Denver & Rio Grande Western's narrow gauge's final decade.

Strange to think that double-headed steam locomotives were still moving freight on the narrow gauge while astronauts were orbiting Earth.

Old magazines can still be fresh sources of hobby information!

I have a book entitled 'Locomotive 346' from the Colorado Railroad Museum by Dirk P. Ramsey & George E. Lawrence. It is a history of some of the Rio Grand and the loco in particular. It has an erection drawing of the 346 as the engine was in 1951 and an Official D&RGW Folio of January 1, 1948. The book has 81 photos of engine. I just called and they have them in stock for 6 bucks - go to site, to store type in title.
