Thank you for hosting me.
Please shout out if I break any rules.
I am dedicated to fooling the beholder, for just a split second.
Let me hold my hand up now and point out that with very little modification the buildings are resin and shop bought, not modelled by me,and I want you to be fully aware of what is my work and what is not.
Also a number of US modeller also do this layout because of the Harry Potter connection, in the U.K, England, the village and station of Goathland were used for filming a TV series Heartbeat, and I do the village and the station, the village has got some non prototypical features to cover fitting into my loft, but the station is to scale 1:76 and except for the fact I soon discovered that a railway set which is half 4mm and half 3.5mm means you have to compromise especially on the space required for the track detail to fit I have endeavoured to follow faithfully.
Along the way I have used photos I do not have the rights to display here, but I have enough taken and permission granted from Goathland enthusiasts to give you more than enough comparison.
Goathland has a long history it was shut down in the closures when large tracks of the UK railway was deemed unconomical, but private purchasers bought the whole line inc other stations, they also adjusted slightly the tracks, which I can expand on later, and added a platform walk bridge here and at one of the other stations for passenger safety. The early green paint was long since rep, aced with magenta, aging and cleaning can lead to some discrepancies, and I have bought three versions of the station and other buildings choosing the ones I believed work best, the size between buildings are amazingly different even from the same manufacturer who did two versions, one making the best of the platform side then in my opinion a smaller collection improved for the rear, at which point I pulled out the whole station turned it 180 degrees and restarted. in the meantime I had learnt a lot about the station and I hope that together with time for my skills to improve have given me a better layout.
Well after the verbose introduction I had best offer some photos.
first the real entrance then 2 of the model for comparison.
