    Trackmobile Repair

    All,

Quite a few years ago, I bought a DCC Trackmobile model from Factory Direct Trains. It is well detailed and was operational. The power pickups are a little sketchy, but otherwise it was good.

I took a long break from MRR and when I got back to it, I found this model wouldn't run and I couldn't read the decoder. Factory Direct Trains is now Factory Direct Hobbies. I pinged on them for support, but don't provide it for the model.

I'm not inclined to tear into it to attempt a repair (it's really small). Can anyone recommend a business would be appropriate for this task? It would be great to have going again.

    Thanks,

    Alan

Did you try cleaning the wheels? Sounds like the track pickups are dirty if you can't get it to run and read the decoder. I'd try that first and see what happens.

Yes, I even had a spare set of pickups. There is a really small decoder in there, but I'm not willing to tear into it. Looking for a shop that will take a look at it. I was disappointed in Factory Direst Trains/Hobbies, no support. Thanks,

Alan, who is the maker of the model?
I found these on Google and the majority of the models say they are BLI?

Any info these seems to be few and far between, but I did find this video on "What's Neat" video.
This guy took a DC only version and added sound and lights to it.
May not be of much help for you but, he does show some of how it comes apart and the guy who did it, actually did the install for a customer.

So there might be some useful info here to chew on.

    Rule #1 of model railroading.
It's probably responsible for the greatest number of shoddy layouts because no one feels compelled to improve themselves. Meh, good enough...

It was Factory Direct Trains (Hobbies). I pinged on them, but no support. It's a great model.

I'm not asking who you bought it from, I'm asking who the original manufacturer was.
From what I have been able to figure out, it was BLI (Broadway Limited Imports).
Factory Direct Trains (Hobbies) just sold those track mobiles.

I would reach out to BLI for support. They do a good job of fixing and repairing their products.
